At first we have to prepare the wound by removing the dead tissue and debris,assess the wound for deep or systemic infection, Rinse off any anti-septic applied as first-aid, Stop bleeding, Test for diabetes, Treat pain, and then we have to follow the below steps to Apply Cerdak Wound Treatment Device 

First Step

• Peel the sterile pouch containing the Cerdak WTD (Wound Treatment Device)
• Open and remove the device by taking it between thumb and forefinger

Second Step

• Place the Cerdak Wound Treatment Device on the wound

Third Step

• Fasten the Cerdak WTD into place by an adhesive strip and then bandage
• Make sure the bandage is not too tight and tell the patient to loosen it should the area swell up after application
• Always use hypoallergenic adhesives tape
• Adhesive tape or transparent adhesive film alone  may be used

Fourth Step

• When the Cerdak WTD looks saturated on the outside - that is if more than half of the powder visible on the outside of the pouch is discoloured or wet, remove the Cerdak device.
• Remove the bandage and/or adhesive tape and then lift the Cerdak WTD off the wound and discard in a hazardous materials container or throw into a fire.

Last / Re-application Step

• Do not clean the wound mechanically, it may be rinsed clean with saline or clean water
• Peel the sterile pouch containing the Cerdak WTD (Wound Treatment Device) open and remove the device by taking it between thumb and forefinger.
• Place on the wound and fasten as shown before

** Repeat the above first three steps, whenever change of cerdak sachet is required
